A bracket is a connection that is fixed on the tooth with the purpose of engaging the orthodontic arch wire with glue or band. These square pieces are usually glued on each tooth. Brackets come in different sizes and styles, including self-opening or self-ligating, lingual and titanium. The most common and widely used type of orthodontic bracket is the metal bracket, which has many advantages over other types of brackets, such as recyclability, sterilization, high resistance to pressure, minimal wear and reasonable cost.
